Now, if you are starting with SLP integration, as a very first step you should inquire how Bank Key's are setup in your customer's SAP system. ![]() That's why in Ariba SLP, Bank Key is labelled as "Bank Key / ABA Routing Number" For US, Bank Key is always the Routing Number. For example, for many European countries, Bank Key could be same as SWIFT Code / BIC Code/ Bank Number or it could be a portion of IBAN number. SAP Ariba is not yet fully equipped to make this process fully automatic. Well, that's the whole point I am writing this blog and also is the reason by I wrote above that in some cases it can be known to the vendor. Now you would be getting an obvious question, why Bank Key is being asked to be filled by vendor when in fact it might not be known to them? In some cases, it can be known to the vendor. We also know that this code is customer dependent and hence would't be known to the vendor always. However, there are few best practices which customer adopts to make their bank master design consistent with the industry. This is a customer dependent master data which differ for each client. It's correctness ensures that vendor payments are processed without any issues in SAP.
